BERKELEY - California placed the most student-athletes - 12 - on the 2012 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic Team, the conference announced this week. The Golden Bears placed a program-high 14 players on the 2007 MPSF All-Academic Team and also had 12 on the conference's 2008 academic squad.

Three seniors (midfielder Emily Abbood, midfielder Vail Horn and defender Tori Harrison), four juniors (attacker Melissa Humphrey, defender Sarah Milik, attacker Alexa Rozelle and attacker Megan Takacs) and five sophomores (midfielder Amelia Burke, defender Teresa Li, defender Marissa O'Meally, attacker Hayley Olson and goalkeeper Megan McGinnis) earned academic kudos from the MPSF.

The MPSF awarded academic honors based on the following criteria:

1. 3.00 or better cumulative grade-point average.
2. Student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically.
3. Student-athlete must have completed one full academic year at the institution prior to the season for which the award is being received.
4. Student-athlete must have competed in fifty percent or more of the institution's competition in his or her respective sport.
