BERKELEY - A breakout season for Megan Takacs earned the junior attacker a spot on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association West/Midwest Region First Team, the organization announced on Thursday. The 2012 MPSF Player of the Year - and the only MPSF player on this region's first team - Takacs set California's single-season goals record of 53 despite missing the Golden Bears' last three games due to injury. Takacs is now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on May 27. The IWLCA will honor the national All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on June 16 in King of Prussia, Pa. The Woodside, Calif., product finished the season as Cal's leader in goals, draw controls (63), game-winning goals (4) and free-position goals (11). She ranked second on the team in points (60) and now ranks sixth in school history for most points in a single season. Takacs, who also earned her second straight All-MPSF first-team honor this year, spent much of the season as the nation's leader in goals per game. With one week left in the season, she sits in second place with a 4.08 average. Her other national stat rankings including 10th in points per game (4.62), 10th in draw controls per game (4.85) and 18th in total goals.
