10/04/2011 Cal Welcomes Allison Comito as Assistant CoachFormerly Served as Head Coach at Stony Brook Allison Comito joined the Cal coaching staff in October of 2011. A two-time All-American as a player at Maryland, Comito spent the previous six seasons as the head coach at Stony Brook. She produced a 42-54 record at Stony Brook and led the Seawolves to the 2007 America East regular-season title. Comito joined a Cal staff that included fellow first-year assistant coach Emma Wallace and Miles, who was likewise in her first year in Berkeley. A product of Glen Head, N.Y., Comito graduated from Maryland as one of its all-time best players. Comito amassed 176 goals and 89 assists in her four years as a Terrapin and is fourth all-time in goals scored. A two-time first-team All-America and three-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection, Comito was part of four consecutive national championships at Maryland along with lacrosse greats Jen Adams, Christie Jenkins and Quinn Carney, a former Cal volunteer assistant coach. As a senior in 2001, Comito scored the game-winning goal with eight seconds left in double overtime to give the Terrapins a 14-13 victory over Georgetown in front of 7,000 fans at Johns Hopkins in the NCAA championship match. Comito graduated from Maryland in 2002 with a degree in sociology. |
