BERKELEY - Long-time gymnastics coach Mike Lynch has been one of the unsung heroes on Cal head coach Cari DuBois' staff this season. A 28-year veteran of the sport, Lynch is a volunteer assistant for Cal and has provided expertise in training the athletes for successful team and individual performances during competitions.

"I am very excited to have Mike involved with this collegiate program," head coach Cari DuBois said. "He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to not only our team, but to the sport of collegiate gymnastics."

Lynch, currently the owner and founder of the Golden Gate Gymnastics Gym in Concord, Calif., has taught level nine through elite athletes at his gym. He has also served as the director of all Golden Gate coaches, program directors and administrative staff.

Prior to his experience at Golden Gate gymnastics, Lynch served as an assistant coach at Diablo Gymnastics in San Ramon, Calif., tutoring class one through elites. He also served as an assistant coach for the women's gymnastics program at Cal State Chico in 1978-79.

The Cal women's gymnastics team will compete in the Pac-10 Championships, on Saturday, March 31, at 5 p.m. (PT) in Tempe, Ariz.
