BERKELEY - California finished in fourth place at the NCAA West Regional that the Golden Bears hosted on Saturday night at Haas Pavilion. The Bears' season ends with the regional, while the meet's top two teams - Utah and runner-up Nebraska - both advance to the NCAA Championships, which the Utes host April 26-28 in Salt Lake City. Utah scored 197.325 to Nebraska's 196.675. Cal collected a score of 193.900. Utah's Ashley Postell won the all-around title with a score of 39.675. She also won two individual events - the balance beam (9.950) and, in a tie with teammate Nicolle Ford, the uneven parallel bars (9.950). Postell also tied for second in the floor exercise with Nebraska's Kylie Stone at 9.90. The Bears posted a few career bests, as junior Alli Szutu had a 9.70 in the vault, sophomore Joanna Bennett scored a 9.675 in the vault and sophomore Jessica Kelley tied her career best on the floor (9.775). Also, senior Isabel Garcia wrapped up her Cal careers by notching her second straight 9.800 on the vault. Cal senior Elyse Wong hit a season high on the floor with a 9.55 and Luce also notched a season-best score of 9.75 in the vault.
