BERKELEY - The women's gymnastics team put on one of their best performances this season, notching a 194.575, to defeat both Air Force and Penn on Friday evening at Haas Pavilion. Penn finished the competition second with its score of 191.225 and Air Force fell in third with its score of 183.500.
Sophomore Jessica Kelley won the all-around competition with her career-best score of 39.125. She posted a 9.750 on the vault, 9.775 on both the bars and beam and a 9.825 on the floor.
For the fourth straight meet the Golden Bears notched over a 48.700 on the vault. Cal scored a season-high 48.850 in tonight's tri-meet. On her senior night, Isabel Garcia scored Cal's first 9.925 on the event since 2004. Junior Siobhan Luce matched her career-high in the event with a 9.850. Freshman Sophia Hocini collected a career-high 9.625.
The Bears continued their magic on the bars, posting a season-high 49.000. Sophomore Lydia Williams scored a 9.900, first since last year when Brittany Pittullo notched the high mark. Scoring their season-highs on the bars were Kelley (9.775), Nicki Wells (9.800) and Luce (9.800).
On the beam, Kelley recorded her career-high of 9.775, while sophomore Tiffany Tam tallied a season-high 9.625.
