Former California Golden Bear golfer Sophia Sheridan finished the CVS/pharmacy LPGA Challenge at Blackhawk Country Club in Danville with a score of five under par (67-72-71-73), placing her among the top-25 finishers in the tournament.
Sheridan opened the tournament with a first-round 67, tying her for second place after the first 18 holes at the par-72, 6,185 yard Lakeside Course at Blackhawk Country Club. Sheridan hit an eagle three on the par-5 11th hole to put her among the tournament leaders in a field that features most of the current top-ten players in the world.
Sheridan posted an even-par 72 in the second round to remain at five under. She was one of six players tied at five-under, including Natalie Gulbis. Sophia Gustafson leads the field with a ten-under. Lorena Ochoa, the world's top-rated player, is one stroke back, tied for second at nine-under.
In Saturday's third round, Sheridan posted a one-under to go to -6 for the tournament. In the final round, Sheridan shot a one-over 73 to finish the tournament tied for 24th place. Sophie Gustafson won the tournament with a four-stroke lead over Lorena Ochoa. Gustafson posted a -20.
