BERKELEY -Anna Temple, Cal's assistant women's golf coach of the last four years, has left to take the head coaching job at UC Davis. Temple, a former professional and accomplished amateur golfer, graduated from Cal in 2004 and returned in 2008 to become the assistant coach. Temple transferred to Cal from Wisconsin after her freshman season, and earned all-region honors as a senior in 2004. As a coach, she helped coach the Golden Bears to their first NCAA Championship berth since 2006 in 2011. Last year, she helped coach the squad to victories at both the Peg Barnard Invitational and the Julie Inkster Spartan Invitational. "It was extremely special to have Anna Temple, a graduate of the Cal women's golf program, give back and coach here for 4 seasons," said head coach Nancy McDaniel. "She will be dearly missed by everyone involved in the program and we wish her and the Lady Aggies great success moving forward." "I have tremendously enjoyed working with Coach McDaniel and the student-athletes in our program for the past four years," Temple said. "It has truly been an honor and a privilage to be a part of this Bear family and to coach at my Alma Mater. I am grateful to Coach McDaniel for hiring me four years ago and mentoring me during that time." Cal has not yet announced a replacement.
