Cal Wins First Tournament in Program History
VALLEJO, Calif. -- The California women's golf team posted its first tournament title in the program's brief three-year existence, capturing the Blue Rock Springs Invitational in Vallejo. The Bears posted a 639 team score over the 36-hole tournament at Blue Rock Springs Golf Course, defeating Sacramento State (668) and Santa Clara (692).
Cal sophomore Lisa Yamane claimed her first tournament victory as a collegian, shooting a two-day total of 157. Yamane captured the individual title with a birdie on the first playoff hole, defeating Sacramento State's Megan Hamilton, the first day leader.
The Bears dominated the tournament, taking five of the top six places. Cal sophomore Nicole Bolter took third place (160), while junior Eden Anderson and freshmen Katie Bakken and Cheryl Lala all carded a 162 to tie for fourth place.
