Cal Ties For Fifth at Northwest Invitational
CORVALLIS, Ore. -- The California women's golf team finished tied for fifth place at the 14-team Northwest Invitational (968) at the Corvallis Country Club. The 54-hole tournament was won by host Oregon State (922), a seven-stroke winner over runnerup Oregon (929). Oregon State's Kathleen Takaishi captured the individual title, shooting an 11-over par 227.
Individually, the Bears were led by freshman Cheryl Lala, who tied for 10th place (238) in her first collegiate tournament. Sophomore Nicole Bolter tied for 25th place (244), sophomore Elisa Echeverria tied for 30th place (246), sophomore Lisa Yamane tied for 32nd place (247), and freshman Heather Bruno tied for 51st (255).
