The No. 10 California Golden Bears women's golf team shot a two-over 290 in the opening round of the Turtle Bay Resort Collegiate Invitational in Hawaii, putting them in third place after the first 18 holes. Pia Halbig and Diane Kwon are both in the top-10.

Cal's team score put them one stroke ahead of USC. They trail second place San Jose State by two strokes. UC Davis leads the field of 18 teams after posting a 281 (-7) on the par-72 6,361 yard Palmer Course.

Junior Pia Halbig, who came into the tournament ranked No. 19 among all individual collegiate women golfers, carded a two-under 70 to tie for fourth place among individuals. Sophomore Dian Kwon was also under par, shooting a 70 (-1) to tie for sixth place in the field of 93 golfers. Emily Childs ended her round at two-over with Joanne Lee finishing at plus-four.

The second round will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 3 with the teams playing the Palmer Course once again. Tee times begin at 7 a.m. Hawaii Time. Live stats are available on Golfstat.com.
