SAN JOSE - California freshman Hannah Suh finished third overall to lead the Golden Bears' women's golf team to a third-place finish after three rounds of competition at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invite at the Almaden Golf and Country Club in San Jose.
Suh held steady for third after shooting a final round 75 to finish with a four-over 220. Nicola Rossler and Carly Childs also earned top 20 finishes to pace California for third overall at 291-296-310=897 (+33). No. 14 Stanford won the tournament with a 14-over 878.
The course played more difficult for most teams on the course Tuesday with each Bear hitting at least one double bogey and the team combining for just four birdies on the day, two by Suh on the sixth and 10th holes. Rossler and Childs both hit six-over 78's Tuesday to lead to top 20 individual finishes. Rossler shot 73-75-78=226 (+10) to finish 16th, and Childs shot 70-79-78=227 (+11) to finish 20th over the course of the two days.
California will take three weeks off of team competition with no tournaments scheduled until the team competes at the SDSU Farms Invitational in San Diego from March 31 to April 2. Only two tournament remain until the Pac-12 Championships that will be hosted by UCLA in Valencia in late April.
