BERKELEY - The California Golden Bears women's golf team got off to a slow start the the Northrop Grumman Invitational, finishing the first round of play in 12th place. The team posted a +25 (309). Southern California finished the day as the team leaders with an even par 284. Sophomore Joanne Lee paced the Bears, shooting a one-over 72 at the 5,912 yard Palos Verdes Golf Club. She was tied for seventh among the individuals, five shots back from USC's Jennifer Song, who leads the tournament at four-under. Sophomore Daniela Holmqvist shot a +5 (76) in her Cal debut, the second lowest round of the day for the Cal women. Because of a threatening forecast down in Southern California, the tournament will go with a shotgun start on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. Live Scoring will be available through Golfstat.
