BERKELEY - Sophomore Andrea Earle became the 11th player in California Field Hockey history to earn All-American honors when she was named to the 2011 Longstreth/ NFHCA Division I All-American Third Team. Earle had a breakout season, transforming the Bears into one of the top-10 offenses in the nation. Earle was second in the NorPac Conference in goals per game (.80, 24th in the NCAA) and points per game (1.85, 31st NCAA). She was named to the All-West Region team last week after being named the NorPac West Offensive Player of the Year and the NorPac West co-Player of the Year earlier. Earle is the first Cal player to earn All-American honors since Ashley Glosz was named to the third team in 2007. Cal's All-American list includes current head coach Shellie Onstead, who was a first team All-American in 1982. Cal's other All-Americans: Ilse Akkermans (1993-third team; 1994-second team), Kiki Brown (1986-second team), Renee Chatas (1983-first team); Nora Feddersen (2002-third team; 2003-second team), Bunny Freud (1984-first team), Valentina Godfrid (2006-first team; 2005-third team), Elka Popp (1996 and 1997-second team), and Ligaya Yrastrorza (1987-first team).
