BERKELEY - The University of California field hockey team (5-10, 1-3) will finish the season this week by playing their final two NorPac Conference games. On Tuesday, the Golden Bears hope across the bay to face the school rival Stanford Cardinal. Cal lost to Stanford, 2-1, in their previous meeting in Berkeley. On Friday, the Golden Bears finish the season by playing the UC Davis Aggies at home. The Aggies handed Cal a defeat, 3-1 when they played in Davis earlier this year.
Friday's game will be the final game for Cal's seven seniors. Be sure to come to the game early for a special presentation. Admission is free for all home games.

California made their third trip to the East coast this season and return home without any wins for the first time. Last Friday, the Bears lost their third overtime game of the season, dropping a decision against Duke, 2-1. Junior Caroline Struijk scored the lone goal for Cal. On Sunday, the Bears lost another nailbiter, when they lost yet another one goal decision to Wake Forest, 4-3. Struijk, Jordan O'Reilly, and Shannon Elmitt scored for the Bears.

Goalies Joelle van Hoorn and Courtney Hendrickson have allowed just 28 goals this season in fifteen games, compiling a GAA of 1.77 and a save percentage of .757. Van Hoorn's GAA of 1.49 and save percentage of .778 are first in the NorPac. Nationally, the GAA is good for 17th and her save percentage ranks 9th. Van Hoorn has earned three shutouts on the season, and notched a career high 17 saves against PSU. She has been named the NorPac Defensive Player of the Week three times in her freshman season.
Sophomore Lara Kruggel leads the Bears on the season with 15 goals through 13 games. The 15 goals also tie her for seventh on Cal's single season record list for goals. She also now has scored 23 career goals, placing her one behind Andrea Lo for eleventh on the all-time career list. Her 35 points this year have also earned her a spot on the single season record book, tying her for 8th with her coach, Shellie Onstead. The 15 goals are good for first place in the NorPac (T-8th nationally). She also leads the NorPac with 1.00 goals per game (8th nationally), first with 2.27 points per game (11th nationally), and leads the league with 35 total points. Though she didn't add any more goals on the road trip, she notched three assists to bring her season total to 4, tied for third on the team.
Kennedy Atop the Record Books
Junior Deanna Kennedy now holds sole possession of first place in the Cal record book with 37 career assists. Junior midfielder Shannon Elmitt is also etching her name in the books, her seven assists this year are first on the team and give her 24 for her career to place her seventh in the record books.
