Joelle van Hoorn earned her third shutout on Friday

BERKELEY - Freshman goalie Joelle van Hoorn was awarded the NorPac West Defensive Player of the Week award for the week ending Oct. 7. It was the third time this season she has earned the award.

In the two matches last week, van Hoorn made a total of 19 saves, including 17 against the No. 7 Penn State Nittany Lions, which set a new season high. Against Robert Morris, she earned her third shutout of the season.

Van Hoorn, a 5-8 keeper from Vught, the Netherlands, has posted a 1.68 goals against average this year, which is the 24th best mark in the country. Her save percentage of .760 is 13th in the nation.
