Allie Swartz is one of the unsung heroes of the California Golden Bear field hockey team. The defender doesn't have the splashy stats (one career assist), but has been an integral part of the Cal defense for the last two seasons. The sophomore from San Diego, Calif. has played in all but one game since her freshman season and has been penned onto the Cal starting lineup card this season. At Scripps Ranch High School, she was named the CIF Division II, All-County and Western League Player of the Year her senior year and played on the Field Hockey Futures California Nationals Tournament team. The Environmental Sciences major has hobbies that include surfing and scuba diving. I went scuba diving in Belize and went on a Mayan ruin and cave exploration in Guatemala.
