BERKELEY - California (1-0), propelled by a 3-0 win over Pacific in its season opener, plays its next four games over the course of seven days, starting with the Golden Bears' home opener against Drexel at 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 1, at Maxwell Family Field. Cal then heads to Farmville, Va., to play three NorPac Conference games, with the first coming against host Longwood on Thursday, Sept. 4. The Lancers' home field will also serve as a neutral site for Cal's games against Radford on Friday, Sept. 5, and Appalachian State on Sunday, Sept. 7.
Glosz, Knoche Lead Attack in Stockton
Senior midfielder Ashley Glosz converted a penalty stroke at the 46:00 mark and senior forward Katie Knoche scored twice to lead Cal over Pacific, 3-0, in a non-conference match on Aug. 30 in Stockton, Calif. Knoche scored unassisted in the 54th minute. Bears senior midfielder Andrea Lo and sophomore forward Natalie Nurnberg assisted on Knoche's second goal in the 57th minute.
Cal senior goalkeeper Kelly Knoche made saves on both of Pacific's shots. Cal outshot the Tigers, 19-2, for the game.
Drexel Downs Stanford, 3-1, in Opener
In Drexel's season-opening 3-1 win at Stanford on Aug. 30, the Dragons (1-0) got goals from sophomore midfielder Kim Tunell (8th minute), sophomore forward Susan Ciufo (11th) and junior defender Jennifer Bolger (33rd). Drexel senior goalkeeper Colleen McAndrew made six saves.
Drexel junior midfielder Carolina Giberneau, who picked up an assist at Stanford, and freshman defender Sofia Sanguinetti represented Uruguay in a 2008 Olympic qualifying tournament and were also on Uruguay's 2007 Pan American Games team.

The Dragons are led by 14th-year head coach Denise Zelenak, who is a member of the U.S. indoor field hockey team that will compete in the 2008 Pan American Indoor Games in November in Argentina.
Next Week
After playing four games in a seven-day stretch, the Bears play one game in 17 days when they host Albany at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Maxwell Family Field. Cal doesn't play again until a Sept. 25 match against Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich.
