Getting to Know Erin Magill

Erin Magill is a fifth-year senior and one of the captains of this year's Cal Bears. Despite being a defender, she has opened the season with a pair of goals in the first two games. She was a 2009 All-Nor-Pac second team honoree and a Longstreth/NFHCA All-West Region Team member. She has two NorPac Defensive Player of the Week honors and an Offensive Player of the Week nod in her first three seasons with the Bears. She has also scored five game-winning goals in her career.

Erin is a Political Science major from Gilroy, Calif.

Here are some things you may not know about Erin Magill:

Place in the world you want to travel: United Kingdom and Ireland just because I'm a huge British history nerd

Places in the world you have traveled: I've never been outside the United States but I've been to almost every state

Fact not many people know about you: I know American Sign Language. My maternal grandparents are deaf.

Favorite part of practice and game days: Warm ups. I love dancing with my teammates

Secret food cravings: Anything chocolate or dessert-related. I could eat dessert at any point of the day

Favorite type of cookie: Chocolate chip or snickerdoodle

Favorite movie from the past year: Crazy, Stupid, Love

All-time favorite movie: Remember the Titans

Best moment from a road trip last season: We made a Youtube video for Maddie Hand's class and it was hilarious to film

Dangerous thing you would do if there were no risks: Bungee jump for some reason that seems more frightening than sky diving

 

 

Your secret addiction: Jersey Shore. I watch episodes over and over again. They're unreal, I want to be friends with them

Reason you picked your jersey number: It's my birthday!

# of miles you are from home: Around 90

Age when you first played field hockey: Freshman year of high school.

How would you describe your game when you first started playing?: I don't really remember. Probably a lot of hitting and not running around

Your teammates say your are: Loud (and annoying, I am sure)

What you love most about Cal: Being an athlete and learning form the brightest political minds in the nation

What you love most about living in the Bay Area: The view from the Golden Gate never gets old
