BERKELEY - Head coach Shellie Onstead and the California Golden Bear field hockey team returned from an eight-day tour of Buenos Aires, Argentina. the team played four matches and spent some time taking in the culture and the scenery. "Field hockey is such a great international sport," Onstead said. "I wanted our team to have the opportunity to be immersed in that culture." In addition to playing four matches against top Argentine teams, the Bears also attended two instructional clinics facilitated by FIH certified instructors. The team also had plenty of opportunities to explore Buenos Aires, visiting the Recoleta Cemetery, the most famous and ornate burial site in the country that is the final resting place for Eva Peron and numerous Argentine presidents, and the Teatro Colon, the main opera house of Argentina. The team also took tango lessons and translated those into a pregame warm-up. Check out the Photo Gallery of scenes from the trip.
