Unbeaten Syracuse Defeats Bears, 2-0

BERKELEY, Ca. - The Syracuse Orangewomen defeated California, 2-0, Monday, Sept. 15 on Kleeberger Field. The Bears (2-4), without leading scorer sophomore Sara Baron, were unproductive on offense, managing only four shots on goal. The Orangewomen are unbeaten so far this season (6-0) with wins over NorPac rivals Pacific and Stanford.

Laura Fitzpatrick gave Syracuse the 1-0 lead with 14:52 remaining in the first half off an assist from Amy Weller. In the second half, the pair combined to score once again. But this time, Weller netted the goal off a nice pass from Fitzpatrick with 23:25 remaining.

Cal goalkeeper Karen Hagen posted fourteen saves in the loss.
