Bears Shut Out Tigers, 2-0

BERKELEY, Calif. - The California Golden Bears defeated the Pacific Tigers, 2-0, Saturday at Kleeberger Field, boosting their record to 7-8, 2-1 in the Nor Pac Conference.

The Bears were led by sophomore Kelli Mirassou, assisted by sophomore Robin Reschke, who scored with 26:49 remaining in the second period. Nine minutes later senior Elke Popp, assisted by senior Grace Kim and sophomore Megan Sainsbury, also helped the Bears, scoring with 17:45 left in the match.

Popp now tallies four goals this season, while Sainsbury leads the Bears with 10 assists. Senior goalkeeper Karen Hagen recorded her sixth shutout of the season. The Bears also outshot the Tigers, 14-3.

Cal has defeated Pacific all three times they have met this season. Sunday, the Bears face the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos at 1 p.m. in Berkeley.
