Field Hockey Falls to William & Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Senior Vickey Saunders deflected a cross from junior Molly Radcliffe to lift William & Mary to a 1-0 victory over visiting California at Busch Field Thursday.

W&M outshot the Golden Bears, 10-7, and goalkeepers Bridgette Gavaghan and Ericka Vargas combined for the Tribe's third shutout this year.

With 15:05 to play, Cal's Elke Popp threatened to tie the game on a penalty stroke, but her shot went wide right and hit the post.
