STANFORD, Calif. - The California Golden Bears tied the Stanford Cardinal, 1-1, in an exhibition game played at Stanford on Tuesday, Aug. 16. Senior Megan Shimojima had Cal's lone goal, finding the net after getting a feed from sophomore Megan O'Reilly with 27:24 remaining in the first half. The Bears held a 1-0 advantage through the first half. Stanford scored the equalizer ten minutes into the second half. The Cardinal, who had just two shots in the first half, had a flurry of shots in the final five minutes of the game with sophomore goal keeper Courtney Hendrickson getting several key saves to preserve the tie. Senior Maddie Hand played the first half in goal with Hendrickson playing the second half. The Bears had their chances on offense, coming up with 19 shots (to the Cardinal's 11) with seven corners. The Bears will play one final exhibition tune up before starting the regular season, hosting the University of Alberta on Thursday, Aug. 19 at 3 p.m. at Maxwell Family Field. The exhibition is open to the public. There is not an official box score available for this scrimmage
