September 20, 1996 No. 10 Boston University Beats Cal in Field Hockey, 4-2EVANSTON, Ill. -- Tenth-ranked Boston University broke out to a 3-0 lead at halftime and held on for a 4-2 victory in field hockey Friday. With the loss, Cal fell to 2-3 on the year, while BU is 3-1. Vera Schoenfeld put the Terriers up with a goal 10 minutes into the game, with additional first half scores coming from Leonia Kortenhorst and Jayne Reino. Becky Bewley put Cal on the board with a goal off a pass from Elke Popp
early in the second half. But BU answered with a second goal by Kortenhorst.
Popp closed out the scoring with her first goal of the year with two minutes
left on the clock.
