California Golden Bear head coach Shellie Onstead has announced the addition of Andy Smith to her staff as an assistant coach. Smith, a former member of the US Women's National Team coaching staff, joins the Bears after spending 10 seasons on the Dartmouth staff, including six seasons as associated head coach for the Big Green.
The California Golden Bear field hockey team is currently traveling through Argentina. The Bears and head coach Shellie Onstead will be in South America through May 27.
Senior Jessica Kreck was presented with the prestigious Neufeld Scholar-Athlete Award at the 2012 Student-Athlete Honors Luncheon. The awards are given to the graduating male and female student-athletes with the highest cumulative grade-point averages.
The California Golden Bears had 11 players named to the 2011 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. Outgoing seniors Maddie Hand and Jessica Kreck earned the fourth honors of their careers.
