California: 2012 (Freshman): Rowed on Cal's freshman eight that won a Pac-12 Championship and beat Washington ... competed on the varsity four that beat Stanford at the Big Row.

Personal: Rowed with the Marina Aquatic Center and won the Coaches Award in 2011 and the Most Inspirational Award in 2010 ... finished second in the four at the 2011 Junior National Championships ... played two years of varsity volleyball (2008-09) and one year of varsity swimming (2008) at Marymount High School ... lists singing as a hobby ... parents are Glenn and Bettina Duval ... has two brothers and a sister ... mother attended Cal and father played volleyball at UC Santa Barbara ... undeclared major.

The best part of the University is: The diversity on campus and the constant comotion of the student cody. At Cal, the school is alive, as something is always going on.

I chose Cal because: I wanted to row for a competetive team as well as attend a school that would provide me with a fabulous education. Cal provides me with both and allows me to challenge myself both academically and athletically everyday.
