BERKELEY, Calif. - The California women's basketball team was honored with the Cheer For Life Foundation's Community Service Achievement Award July 11 in San Francisco. The Golden Bears partnered with Cheer San Francisco last season to help raise $5000 for Foster A Dream.

Foster a Dream provides programs and resources that build the hopes, dreams and futures of Bay Area foster children. Foster a Dream is also a guiding source for a successful transition into the adult world.

Cheer SF, a non-profit cheerleading group that performs and raises money for various charities, has been thrilling Haas Pavilion crowds for several years on Saturday afternoons at Cal women's basketball games. Cal fans have generously donated money at games to support Cheer SF's charitable endeavors.
