April 11, 2005

BERKELEY, Calif. - Devanei Hampton and Alexis Gray-Lawson, who have signed National Letters of Intent to play basketball at California beginning with the 2005-06 season, have been named second team Parade Girls High School All-Americans.

The entire team, which was announced April 10 in Parade Magazine, was selected by coaches, scouts and recruiters. Ten players were selected to each of the four possible All-America teams.

Hampton, a 6-3 post, and Gray-Lawson, a 5-8 point guard, propelled Oakland Tech to its second consecutive Division I state title last month. The duo also competed in this year's McDonalds All-America game.

Hampton and Gray-Lawson are part of Cal's No. 6 nationally-ranked recruiting class, according to Blue Star Index. The prep teammates are two of only four Parade All-Americans heading to Pac-10 schools in the fall.
