BERKELEY - Fans and media are invited to join the No. 6 California women's basketball team to an NCAA Selection Show Watch Party at the Field Club at Memorial Stadium Monday (March 18) afternoon. Doors will open at 3 p.m. with ESPN televising the Selection Show at 4 p.m. Fans can enter Memorial Stadium through Gate 1 and walk over to the Plaza to enter the Field Club. Members of the Cal Athletics staff will also be on site to help direct guests. Cal Dining will operate concession stands at the event for fans to purchase food, and the Cal Bears Shop will also open stands for fans to purchase California Women's Basketball merchandise, including the 2013 Pac-12 Champions t-shirts. Fans can also register to win 2013-14 season tickets at the event. California (28-3) is in position to earn its second consecutive NCAA Tournament bid after earning a share of the first Pac-12 regular season championship in program history with a 17-1 conference record. The Bears have been ranked in the Top 7 for a majority of the season that has been filled with record-breaking moments, including a 67-55 win at Maples Pavilion that ended Stanford's 81-game conference winning streak. Under second-year head coach and the Pac-12 Media Coach of the Year, Lindsay Gottlieb, California has secured itself as one of the elite programs in the country as the only team outside of the RPI Top 4 to defeat a team in the RPI Top 4 (No. 2 Stanford). Led by All-Pac-12 selections Layshia Clarendon, Gennifer Brandon and Brittany Boyd, the Bears are one of just six teams in the country to have no losses to teams outside of the RPI Top 11 - the other schools being Baylor, Notre Dame, Stanford, Connecticut and Colorado.
