BERKELEY - Brittany Boyd carried the Cal women's basketball team to a pair of crucial road wins that keeps the Bears in second place in the Pac-12, making her this week's California Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week.
Boyd willed the team to a comeback and overtime against Arizona with 15 points, six assists, six rebounds, and four steals.
In the Arizona State game, the freshman set the tone in the first half with a three minute stretch where she scored five of Cal's six baskets. In the second half, she had seven steals, including one in the final minute that pretty much ensured the Cal victory.
Boyd ended the Arizona State game with a double double of 19 points (tying a career high) and 10 steals (tying a program record). She is one of only seven players in all of NCAA I basketball to have 10 or more steals in a game this season.
