"This is a great experience for us. We didn't plan on coming here and just having an experience. We came here planning to win this game. I think St. John's is a great team. They came out and competed as much as we did. Both teams were really prepared. I didn't plan on Devanei (Hampton) playing 13 minutes. It kind of put a wrench into things. The thing I told my team was `I'm so pleased with your effort. I thought there were two spurts in the game where they kind of held their heads down a little bit. Other than that they competed, and we had to rotate people in there that we're not used to rotating in, and I think they held their own and did as good a job as they could. I think St. John's took advantage of what their strengths are, and they played a great game."
Freshman center Devanei Hampton
"It was very frustrating (to be picking up fouls), but I have faith in my team. I know that they know what they're capable of doing without me. They did a good job."
Freshman guard Alexis Gray-Lawson
"(Kia Wright) is a very good player. I said that yesterday in the press conference. She came out, and she was ready. I was ready, too. She played really good defense. At the end, I started figuring out what they were doing, and I tried to attack that. It's difficult when you have Ashley (Walker) in foul trouble and you have Devanei (Hampton) out of the game. Those are the people you depend on. I'm so proud of my teammates. We had people come into the game that didn't get as many minutes as they did during the regular season, as far as Krista (Foster) and Keanna (Levy). Keanna came in, and she played a spot she had never played before, and she wasn't nervous. She just came and played her game."
