BERKELEY - Adam Haley scored a team-high two goals in Sunday's final against USC, including an end-to-end breakaway for a score following a steal, to help the Golden Bears win their second consecutive NCAA title, earning the senior defender the honor as Muscle Milk California Student-Athlete of the Week.
One of Cal's top defenders in the pool, Haley entered the NCAAs with only 14 goals on the season, but was the Bears' top scorer along with senior Zac Monsees, who also had two goals in the 8-6 win over the No. 1 Trojans. Haley broke a 2-2 tie when he stole the ball on the USC end and swam the entire length of the pool for his first score, and later broke a 4-4 tie in the third period when he scored again with 3:30 left in the quarter.
