WOODLAND, CALIF. - University of California junior center Zach White has been named the Oct. 12 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Co-Mikasa Player of the Week, it was announced by MPSF commissioner Al Beaird. White shared his first career MPSF player of the week honor with USC senior Justin Rappel.

White, a 6-2, 220-pounder from Mission Viejo, helped the No. 4-ranked Bears (11-4) to a runner-up finish at the UCI Invitational last weekend in Irvine, scoring eight goals (four in each match) in Cal victories over No. 5 Loyola Marymount (9-8) and No. 1-ranked and previously unbeaten Stanford (10-8). He also had nine ejections earned in three of the tournament matches. White is now second on the Bears' squad with 25 goals in 13 matches.

White joins sophomore attacker Cory Nasoff as the Bears' MPSF Player of the Week selections this season. Nasoff was the Sept. 8 MPSF Co-POW after helping Cal to a 4-0 start at the Navy Open in Annapolis, Md., scoring 11 goals in matches against Iona, Navy and Bucknell.

Cal will next travel to UCLA for an MPSF league match on Friday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. in Los Angeles.
