WOODLAND, CALIF. - University of California sophomore attacker Cory Nasoff has been named the Sept. 8 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Co-Mikasa Player of the Week, it was announced by MPSF commissioner Al Beaird. Nasoff shared the first MPSF player of the week honor of the season with USC sophomore Peter Kurzeka. Nasoff, a 6-2, 190-pounder from San Diego, helped the No. 4-ranked Bears to a 4-0 start at the Navy Open last weekend in Annapolis, Md., scoring 11 goals in matches against Iona, Navy and Bucknell. He also added seven assists, five steals and two ejections earned. Nasoff was Cal's leading scorer with six goals in the Bears' 20-6 win over Bucknell and helped Cal outscore its opponents, 75-19, during the weekend. The Bears are now 23-0 in six years competing at the Navy Open. Cal will next compete against UC Davis in its 2009 home opener, Thursday, Sept. 10 at 4 p.m. at Spieker Aquatics Complex.
