SANTA BARBARA, CALIF. - Featuring balanced scoring with six different players notching goals, the No. 2-ranked Cal men's water polo team (17-4, 4-1) defeated No. 9-ranked UC Santa Barbara (10-11, 0-4) in an MPSF match Saturday at the Campus Pool in Santa Barbara. The Golden Bears, who won their sixth match in a row and fourth straight league contest, were paced by two goals from senior captain Mike Sample and single goals from senior captain Spencer Warden, junior Brian Dudley, sophomores Charlie Steffens and Ivan Rackov, and redshirt freshman Spencer White. Sophomore goalie Wil Toppen finished with six saves, including shutting out the Gauchos in the second period. It was the second time this season Cal has defeated UCSB, topping the Gauchos, 12-8, Sept. 19 in the second round of the NorCal Invitational at Stanford.
