A dominant performance from senior Ivan Rackov led No. 2-ranked Cal to a 27-3 victory over Vanguard Saturday morning (Sept. 17) in the first match of the 2011 NorCal Tournament at Delta College in Stockton. Rackov, the 2010 national player of the year, led the Golden Bears with seven goals, including a trio of goals in the third quarter. Senior attacker Luka Saponjic added six goals, while freshman Luka Ivanovic chipped in three goals.

Cal outscored Vanguard 14-2 in the first half and recorded an 8-0 shutout in the third period. Twelve different players scored for the Bears with sophomore Giacomo Cupido and freshman Aleksa Saponjic, younger brother of Luka Saponjic, scoring two goals apiece. It was Aleksa Saponjic's first match for Cal after playing for the Serbian National Team this summer.

Splitting time in the cage for the Bears, junior Justin Parsons started the match and recorded two saves. Senior Wil Toppen entered after intermission and tallied five saves.

Cal will next play No. 7-ranked Pepperdine, a 14-10 winner over UC Davis, at 2:40 p.m. Saturday at Delta College.
