Mouillon Wins ITA Player To Watch Award

May 30, 2007

BERKELEY - California junior Pierre Mouillon won the 2007 ITA Player to Watch award for the west region as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Mouillon, a transfer from Mississippi State, was previously selected to the All-Pac-10 first team.

The Player to Watch award goes to a player who has an outstanding season and is expected to perform at a high level the rest of his career. The criteria also include a player's sportsmanship and character.

Mouillon is the third Golden Bear to win this award. Michael Hill was the first Cal player to earn the honor in 1995 and Conor Niland was the 2005 recipient.

Currently ranked No. 26 in the ITA singles rankings, Mouillon advanced to the second round of the NCAA singles draw last week and reached the semifinals in the Pac-10 Tournament last month.

Mouillon ended the 2006-07 campaign with an overall singles record of 28-16. He led the Bears all season, ranked in the Top 30 in singles for most of the spring.
