May 12, 2012 2011-12 Records Connect with us: Facebook | Twitter (@CalMensTennis) WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - California men's tennis senior Nick Andrews and sophomore Ben McLachlan were each selected to the Pac-12's All-Conference second team on Friday, May 11. Senior Carlos Cueto received all-conference honorable mention. Both Andrews and McLachlan receive their first-career all-league notice. Andrews was selected for Pac-12 Player of the Week honors, twice, this season. In his four-year career with the Bears, he was twice named to the conference all-academic second team, and reached a career-high ranking of No. 45 in the fall 2011 ITA poll. He and junior Christoffer Konigsfeldt captured the 2010 USTA/ITA Northwest Regional doubles championship and have been ranked as high as No. 2 in the ITA's doubles rankings. He has amassed over 75 singles wins and 100 doubles wins in his four seasons on campus. McLachlan earned three wins at the 2011 ITA All-American qualifying tournament to earn an automatic berth to the All-American main draw. He and Cueto reeled off six consecutive doubles wins to claim the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional championship and earn automatic berth into ITA Indoor Championships. He leads the team, this season, with 24 singles wins and reached a career-high ranking of No. 37 in the most recent ITA poll. McLachlan has collected 40 singles wins and 40 doubles wins in his two seasons with the Bears. Cueto was an All-Pac-12 second team selection as a junior and has collected 50 singles wins and 60 doubles victories in his four-year career. As a freshman at Florida, he was selected to the SEC's all-conference first team as the league's Freshman of the Year. He rose as high as the No. 11 singles ranking after he completed his first year with over 24 singles wins and 25 doubles wins. He and McLachlan won the 2011 USTA/ITA Northwest Regional doubles championship and received an automatic berth into the indoor championships. In a vote by the league's eight head coaches, USC senior Steve Johnson was named the Pac-12 Singles Player of the Year. Johnson and Roberto Quiroz were selected as the conference's Doubles Team of the Year, and USC freshman Yannick Hanfmann was named the league's Freshman/Newcomer of the Year. USC head coach Peter Smith and UCLA's Billy Martin were each named Co-Coach of the Year. The Bears face UTSA in the opening round of the 2012 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships at the Hellman Tennis Complex.
