Utah senior Anastasia Putilina received the women's award. Andrews helped the Golden Bears to a pair of 7-0 sweeps over No. 22 Washington and No. 62 Oregon, this weekend. The Folsom, Calif., native posted his fourth straight win in singles matches with victories over UW's 14th-ranked Kyle McMorrow and Oregon's Robin Cambier. Against McMorrow, Andrews was rarely challenged as he upended the highly-successful Husky junior, 6-2, 6-2. Down, 2-0, in the first set against Cambier, Andrews came alive and dropped just two more games on his way to a 6-3, 6-1 win. The two wins helped Andrews reach the 15-win plateau and made him the second Cal player to hit that mark, this year. In doubles matches, Andrews teamed with junior Christoffer Konigsfeldt (ranked third, together) to push their winning streak to seven matches. The duo posted their 19th victory together with an 8-3 win against Emmett Egger and McMorrow of Washington, and an 8-6 decision over Cambier and Jeff Mullen of Oregon. At 4-0, the Bears are off to their best start in conference duals since the 1953 squad won the Pacific Coast Conference title with a 6-0 record. That team also went to the NCAA title match. Andrews received his first-career weekly honor on Jan. 16, earlier this year. His second award marks the 14th all-time for Cal. He was the fifth different Bear to receive Player of the Week honors and is the fourth to receive the award twice in the same season. The Bears head to Southern California to face a top-ranked USC squad and fifth-ranked UCLA in back-to-back Pac-12 duals, this weekend. Please visit CalBears.com for more information.
