BERKELEY - No. 37-ranked California men's tennis sophomore Ben McLachlan went undefeated in a pair of singles matches and a pair of doubles matches to help the Golden Bears go 2-0 on the road to open Pac-12 play, making him this week's California Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week. The Queenstown, New Zealand native earned his team-leading 20th singles win of the year on a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Arizona's Mario Urquidi. He also claimed a three-set win against Utah's Dmytro Mamedov, 6-7, 6-3, 1-0(6), to run his winning streak to four straight. McLachlan is now 9-4 in dual matches and 20-9 overall. In doubles play, McLachlan teamed with junior Carlos Cueto to help Cal go 6-0 in doubles matches. First, the two took out Utah's Ace Matias and Alejandro Medinilla, 8-5, for their 20th win together. They then earned another 8-5 win against Giacomo Miccini and Urquidi of Arizona to push their team-leading total to 21-6. McLachlan also leads the Bears in doubles wins with 23, this season.
