BERKELEY - California has launched a two-year, $2.5 million campaign to upgrade the Hellman Tennis Complex, home to Cal men's and women's tennis programs. As the 30th anniversary of the Hellman Tennis Complex approaches, the $2.5 million Cal Tennis Campaign will provide much-needed upgrades to the facility as well as annual support to Cal student-athletes.
Two million dollars will be devoted to enhancing Hellman, while $500,000 will support the Cal Tennis annual fund, aiding student-athlete scholarships and support services. The campaign will provide much needed upgrades including the following:
"This will help our players and fans enjoy their Cal tennis experience on a much higher level," Cal men's head coach Peter Wright said. "The alumni support so far has been incredible. This project is the foundation for a healthy and vibrant tennis program in the future."
Kent, a Cal tennis letterwinner in the late 1950s, and Pat Newmark - long-time friends to the programs - have made the Cal Tennis Campaign possible through a lead gift of $750,000. Alumni, parents, friends and fans of the Cal Tennis programs are encouraged to join them in support of this campaign.
With a gift of $5,000 or more, a donor can choose to have his/her donation recognized with a naming opportunity:

"Cal Tennis student-athletes perform at the highest level academically and athletically on a daily basis," Cal women's head coach Amanda Augustus said. "As a former Cal Tennis student-athlete, I am excited that fellow alumni and friends of the program are working together to give both our fans and players well deserved improvements to Hellman Tennis Complex. Go Bears!"
