TULSA, Okla. - California men's tennis completed its short-lived visit to the 2008 D'Novo/ITA All-American Championships today with two singles matches in the singles qualifying tournament consolation round at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla. No. 64-ranked junior Kallim Stewart won his match over Daniel Buikema of Alabama in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2 and No. 121-ranked senior Eoin Heavey was forced to retire from his match against Arizona's Jason Zafiros due to injury. Prior to the match ending, Heavey fell 6-0 in the first set but battled back to win the second set 7-5.
The two were also scheduled to face Ignacio Taboada and Keith Crowley of Miami in the first round of doubles qualifying today but withdrew from the match due to the injury suffered by Heavey. The Golden Bears will return home to prepare for the upcoming Wislon/ITA West-North Regional Championship to be hosted at the Hellman Tennis Complex and Channing Tennis Courts.
