FEDERAL WAY, WASH. - Cal freshman diver Collin Pollard finished a successful 2013 Pac-12 Diving Championship Saturday (March 2) in Federal Way, Wash., placing fifth in the platform with a score of 309.10 after earlier in the week qualifying for the finals of the one-meter and three-meter boards.Newcomer Pollard was fourth after the preliminary round of the platform Sunday after tallying a mark of 312.80. Fellow Bear diver, sophomore Thomas Selby, placed 15th on the platform after producing a score of 235.05 in the prelims. Pollard's fifth place in the platform was his top finish during the three-day diving competition. On Thursday (Feb. 28), he was sixth on the one-meter board with a score of 331.15, while Selby qualified for the final and placed eighth with a mark of 249.80. On Friday (March 1), Pollard paced the Golden Bears with a seventh-place finish on the three-meter board with a score of 358.80, improving from his eighth-place standing after a score of 322.10 in the prelims. Selby was 15th in the three-meter competition with a score of 261.00. Cal's divers next look to compete at the Zone E Championships, March 14-16 in Colorado Springs.
