One of the top stories for the 2012-13 California men's swimming and diving team so far this season is the performance of freshman diver Collin Pollard, who continued his fine season by placing second in the one-meter competition Friday (Jan. 11) at the Bruin Diving Invitational in Los Angeles.

Pollard, who hails from San Jose and whose brother, Justin, lettered as a Golden Bear swimmer in 2007 and 2008, trailed only Arizona's Rafael Quintero (647.45) Friday with a score of 603.10. He had compiled a score of 307.55 in the prelims.

Pollard has already established himself as one of Cal's top divers, winning the one-meter competition in the Bears' Nov. 3 dual meet victory over Wisconsin at Spieker Aquatics Complex with a score of 343.73.

Other results for Todd Mulzet's divers included junior Tyler Pullen finishing 11th with a score of 518.50 have a score of 257.55 in the prelims. Freshman Peter Cyr was 13th with a mark of 508.15 (251.25 prelims), sophomore Thomas Selby placed 14th with a score of 497.80 (254.15 prelims) and junior Grayson Huston was 16th with a score of 480.35 (235.15 prelims).

The Cal divers next compete on the three-meter board Saturday at the Bruin Diving Invitational, and then conclude the invitational on the platform Sunday. Following the Bruin Invite, the Bears next compete Jan. 25 at Arizona and Jan. 26 at Arizona State.
