BERKELEY - Alec Sundly picked an opportune time to score his first goals as a Golden Bear, scoring twice, including the gamewinner, in No. 8 Cal's 3-2 victory over rival Stanford in the Bay Area Derby on Nov. 11 in Berkeley, Calif. His timely heroics make the freshman forward/midfielder the California Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week. The win gave Cal its third Pac-10 title in five years and clinched the conference's automatic berth in to the NCAA Tournament. Sundly scored his first collegiate goal in the 34th minute, heading in a corner kick by teammate Davis Paul. In the 83rd minute, Paul and Anthony Avalos assisted on Sundly's second goal, a 25-yard blast that secured a two-game series sweep over the Cardinal, the conference championship and the postseason ticket for the Bears.
