Scouting the Golden Bears Wiedeman continues to lead the Bears in goals, points (21) and game-winning goals (5); he also has three assists. He also earned his second Muscle Milk California Student-Athlete of the Week award of the season for his effort against Stanford. Cosgriff (3 goals, 4 assists) is tied with junior midfielder Hector Jimenez (1, 7) for second on the team in points (10 each). Jimenez paces Cal in assists. Sophomore goalkeeper David Bingham, who made five saves against Stanford to earn the shutout, has a 0.70 goals-against average in eight starts.
Last Time vs. Washington, Oregon State
Scouting the Opposition Sophomore forward Brent Richards leads UW in points (10) and goals (4). Huskies freshman forward Ryan Moore, who ranks second in points (8), has three goals and two assists and leads his team in game-winning goals (2). Richard scored the other winner. Senior goalie Rylan Hawkins has compiled a 0.91 GAA in 10 starts. Dean Wurzberger is in his 18th year as Washington head coach. Oregon State plays at Stanford on Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. before playing at Cal on Oct. 11. The Beavers also played the Southern California Pac-10 schools at home recently, losing to UCLA, 3-1, on Oct. 2 and beating San Diego State, 2-1, in overtime on Oct. 4. Sophomore forward Danny Mwanga leads Oregon State in points (14), goals (7) and game-winning goals (3). Junior forward Brian Ramsey paces the Beavers in assists (3). Sophomore goalie Steve Spangler has produced a 1.06 GAA in 10 starts. Steve Simmons, formerly the coach at Northern Illinois, is in his first year as head coach of Oregon State.
