BERKELEY - Tony Salciccia scored the gamewinning goal and led California men's soccer to victory in its season opener against Santa Clara on Aug. 24, garnering the senior midfielder the second California Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the year.

With Cal leading 1-0 at Santa Clara's Buck Shaw Stadium, a Bronco foul in the 18-yard box created a penalty kick for the Golden Bears. A Cal co-captain, Salciccia calmly converted the eventual penalty kick to give the Bears a 2-0 lead. Cal eventually held on for a 2-1 win.
