Men's Soccer Wins at Addidas Classic

SAN FRANCISCO- Freshman Matt Fundenberger headed in a cross from Andrew Parish in the 76th minute to give top-ranked Indiana a 2-1 victory over #2 Stanford in the adidas/Foot Locker Classic at Negoesco stadium in the city. In the nightcap, Cal (10-6-1) defeated USF 2-1 on a free-kick by Derrick Dyslin from just outside the penalty box midway through the second half. Cal will meet Indiana Sunday in the final day of play while USF will meet Stanford, both games at Cal's memorial Stadium. Stanford, ranked as high as #2 for the first time in their history took the early lead in the 16th minute, but was outplayed and outshot (16-6) by the Hoosiers (17-0) ranked #1 for the eigth consecutive week.

The Hoosiers, off to the best start in school history will face Cal Sunday in Berkeley in the tournament's second round.

USF took the early lead in the nightcap when Inge Klevberg headed in a cross at 14:49. Cal was able to tie the score on a long goal by Adam Hunter at 15:38. The winning goal came on a free kick right outside the penalty box at 72:45. The win was Cal's first over USF since 1989.
