Bears Shine in Exhibition Game

BERKELEY, Cal. - The Cal men's soccer team kicked off its season on Saturday, Aug. 23, with a 5-0 victory over the San Francisco Bay Seals reserve team in an exhibition game played on Witter Field.

Freshman midfielder Ramiro Arrendondo looked impressive for the Bears, scoring two goals and assisting on two others. Sophomore Derrick Dyslin also got into the action, heading the ball into the net off a corner kick by Arrendondo. Other goals in the match were scored by senior Adam Hunter and sophomore Justin Bell. Noteworthy defensive performances were put in by sophomores Tim Castillo, Chris Sawicki and goalkeeper Doug Brooks.

The Bears open up this weekend with matches against UC Davis on Saturday, Aug. 30, and Saint Mary's on Monday, Sept. 1.
